Dutch OpenFOAM® Users Group

The Fourth Symposium on OpenFOAM® in Wind Energy (SOWE 2016) will be held on May 2-4, 2016 at the Delft University of Technology Science Centre in Delft, the Netherlands. Registration and abstract submission is now open! The symposium presents the state of the art in wind energy computations using OpenFOAM® , allows people to share knowledge, and identifes common problems that should be addressed. Previous editions held in Oldenburg (Germany), Boulder (Colorado, USA) and Milan (Italy) proved to be a success. Most relevant topics are reported below and the presentations will be arranged according to the described arguments.

Conference topic include, but are not limited to,

  • Atmospheric flows (including flow over complex terrains and sea)
  • HAWT & VAWT wind turbine aerodynamics and wakes
  • Small scale and urban wind energy applications
  • Site assessment and wind plant aerodynamics
  • Offshore wind aerodynamics and hydrodynamics
  • Other (including meshing, algorithms, post-processing, parallel performance, etc.)

The conference will be perfectly balanced between scientific talks of 20 minutes with a 5 minutes’ question session and networking and cultural activities. A detailed program can be found on the conference website: http://www.lr.tudelft.nl/sowe2016. Key dates are as follows:

  • March 1: Abstracts due
  • March 15: Abstract selection notification
